Great chieftain of the Puddin Race

The guys in Victoria have decided to have a combined Burns supper 25th anniversary dinner it will be held at the Rydges North Melbourne on Friday the 25th of January.

It will cost $110 per person or $1000 for a table of ten.

We have gone for a 3 course alternate drop menu, with a 5 hour drinks package.

The hotel is also giving us a special rate for accommodation. ($145.00 per room per night based on single/twin occupancy and breakfast is $15.)

There will of course be the toasting of the Haggis, some Highland dancers and pipers there so come along in yer best tartan or green.

The following day sees Melbourne Victory playing Sydney at AAMI stadium. Come and see Alexandro Del Piero in action. We already have a few coming down from Sydney.

It has been a long time since we all caught up so lets make an effort to make this another memorable night.

So it looks to be a great week-end, so let John Linn or myself know, book your room direct to the hotel but let them know about our special deal.

Update for Sydney Hibs

Update for Sydney Hibs Cup Final Party at Scruffy Murphy’s ,Goulburn St,
Big thanks to Nathan the licensee of Scruffy Murphy’s for his co operation.
We have our own designated area of the top floor bar after 10pm. Dining area is closed and we will have designated are with big screens and multiple TVs to view the game with high tables to rest the Guinness on.Pre match entertainment of Hibs music supplied by NZ visitor Steve O and 50 goals against Hearts DVD supplied by me.
Like all city centre pubs there are a few standard dress rules which we should adhere to otherwise you may get disappointed when refused entry . No shorts , sleeveless shirts or open-toed sandals .Obviously extreme intoxication will also be a reason for refusal. Hibs colours are welcome and indeed encouraged. Scruffys has a couple of other bars and there may be a bit of a queue to get in so it is advisable to arrive well before kick off.
This is a Hibs fans event. If you are coming with a Hearts supporting friend it is probably best to advise them to join the other mob in Cheers Bar on George Street Hopefully not sending out a threatening message but I am sure the red carpet will not be out for any one clad in maroon . Other teams fans very welcome it should be stressed. There appears to be a pleasing gender balance and many female Hibs supporters will be in attendance in addition to the interested wives/ partners entering into the party spirit.
All being well the plan is to have a big group photo of Hibs fans celebrating a momentous Scottish Cup victory at sunrise at Circular Quay with the Harbour Bridge in the background. One to add to the victory parade pics .
Looking forward to seeing you and your friends on the night. Any queries email me on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Dan Mcmichael

Anyone looking for omens for the cup need look no further than the last manager to win the Scottish cup for Hibs was Irish.

I read somewhere that there was a curse put on Hibs winning the Scottish cup and it would not be lifted until another Irish manager lead Hibs.

Dan McMichael (circa 1860 — 6 February 1919)

was an Irish manager, treasurer, secretary and physiotherapist of the Hibernian during the late 19th Century and early 20th Century. He is the only manager to have taken charge of Hibs in two separate spells, being the first manager of the club from 1900–03 and returning in 1904 after Phil Kelso left for Arsenal. He subsequently held this position for fifteen years, also making him the club's longest serving manager to date.

McMichael, who was a sprinter in his youth, helped revive the club after it was threatened with closure during the early 1890s. He became the club's manager in 1904 after the club became a limited liability company, which meant that the team was no longer run by committee. He was effectively the manager before then as well, and he led the team that won the Scottish Cup in 1902 and the Scottish league championship in 1903.

McMichael served as Hibs manager and in other capacities until his death in 1919 from the great Spanish flu pandemic

For the Hibees that are going back to Edinburgh for the final we thought it would be a great idea if we could all meet up at the Hibs supporters club in 11 Sunnyside just off Easter road. It would be great if we could all catch up and have a few swallies and sing a few songs. We are thinking of 7:30pm /8pm on the Thursday evening 17th of May. Jimmy O'Rourke and his wife Anne are coming down to club to meet us. So lets give them an aussie welcome.

I have spoken to the Hibs club and we will have no problem getting in just say you are from the Australia branch.

A few of are hoping to go for some food to line our stomachs but have not decided where. we will keep you via facebook and when I get a number over there I will let anyone who is interested know.
